Senior Network Engineer

Job Description:
Under the direction of a military leader, assist the unit in the design engineering, installation, operations, and maintenance of the WAN/LAN communication networks supporting the Corps Area of Operations. Assist the G6 staff in the installation, operation and maintenance of their data communications networks. This includes termination and configuration of equipment such as Fiber Optic Modems, Channel Service Units, Mulitplexers (Prominas), Cisco Routers, patch panels and other WAN/LAN service equipment as required. Monitors LAN links, including troubleshooting, maintenance, configuration, and operation of routers and switches. Provides tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects. Prepares and conduct briefings, guidance and standards documents for G6 Staff Officers, and may represent G6 ISD in engineering meetings. Individual must have strong interpersonal and business skills.

Qualifications(Skills in the following areas):

  1. Posses current SECRET security clearance
  2. Must have a current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification
  3. Must have at least 5 years networking experience working with networks and devices
  4. Verifiable experience planning, installing, operating and supporting CISCO IOS in a tactical setting
    a.    CISCO 6509, and 3750s switches
    b.    CISCO 3825 routers, Call Manager, and VOIP telephony
    c.    DoD crypto-logical devices such as bulk and in-line encryption
    d.    WAN/LAN troubleshooting with related test equipment and network monitoring tools
  5. Proficient in integrating IA related patches and upgrades
  6. Extensive experience with implementation and troubleshooting of:
    a.    VLANS, TCP\IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
    b.    Spanning Tree and other layer 2 protocols such at VTP, CDP PAgp, Auto duplex and speed.
    c.    Ciscoworks
    d.    Multicast, QoS, ToS, and CoS
    e.    VPMS, TACACS+ and 802.1x
    f.     Etherchannel and UDLD
  7. Extensive experience with IOS based switches and ability to upgrade, patch and troubleshoot.
  8. Extensive experience with 65XX, 45XX, 37XX, 29XX, and 35XX switches. Routing Protocols and HSRP, SSH
  9. Ability to interface with Cisco TAC and utilize CCO account searches
  10. Familiarity with IPV6 and its impact to the network
  11. Ability to resolve layer one problems
