System Engineer (Network/System/IA) – Senior
Duties:
Network:
Plans, designs, maintains, and implements LAN/WAN configurations and troubleshooting. Extensive experience with LAN/WAN troubleshooting. Understands the impact of VoIP. Experience securing both internal and external connections. Provides plans and documentation on LAN/WAN network changes and recommendations. Familiar with multiple vendor best practices, security, and interoperability. Extensive experience with troubleshooting techniques including packet analysis, port redirection, firewall configuration support, and traffic shaping. Must have experience with QoS.
Experience configuring and maintaining CiscoWorks application. Experience with DWDM architecture and devices a plus. Has advanced understanding and experience with DoD standards and a wide variety of networking protocols. Understands the impact, application, and functions of IDS/IPS and firewall devices. Generally works independently and is considered the premier level.
System:
Installs hardware and new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software and hardware related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor/specialist. Leads and directs the work of others; typically reports to the head of a department.
IA:
Must be able to develop, implement, and maintain a secure network environment including policies, security templates, and best practices. Requires DIACAP, security appliance (IDS, IPS, firewall), and policy creation experience. Responsible for the overall security of the computing environment, vulnerability mitigation strategies, and compliance verification procedures. Senior IA professional responsible for providing guidance to subordinate IA personnel. Responsible for maintaining current IA information. Must have extensive experience with IDS/IPS, firewall, and VPN equipment and configuration. Typically reports to an IA Management Level III.
Requirements:
Network:
Must have CCNA preferred CCNP and CISSP; CCDP recommended; demonstrates knowledge of business and security practices; understands tactical and strategic interoperability requirements and measures; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the IT field of 5-8 years; familiar with IT standards, concepts, practices, and procedures; performs a variety of tasks.
Systems:
Must have MCSE/MCITP-EA
IA:
Must have 5 years of management experience; CISSP certified; knowledge in organizational network environment; must be knowledgeable of IA policy and procedures.
Clearance:
The candidate must be able to obtain and retain a secret clearance.
